Marie Arthur, AKA DJ M-Star, grew up in regional South Australia, surrounded by a diverse mix of music thanks to her parents' eclectic taste. Weekends often meant family nights watching music shows, which sparked her early love for sound.
With the 80s and 90s tech boom, Marie's world expanded when her family acquired a Denon CD player, opening the door to a whole new audio experience. She quickly became hooked on the global music scene, diving into the sounds of Jean-Michel Jarre’s ‘Oxygene’, Deep Forest, and Enigma, fascinated by their unique energy, rhythms, and textures.
As a teen and young adult in the late 90s and early 00s, Marie was swept up in the vibrant dance and electronic music culture of South Australia’s clubs and raves. Her weekly trips to record stores kept her ahead of the curve in the evolving world of electronic music.
Now in her mid-40s, Marie’s love for music has only grown stronger. Whether it’s discovering new tracks or feeling the intensity of a live show, music continues to be her guiding light. As DJ M-Star, she’s all about sharing that same magic and connection with others.
